Paving Design and Planning

Site evaluation, material selection and project design before any paving begins.

What This Covers

Planning is where the cost of a paving project is actually decided. Site evaluation establishes what the subgrade will carry, how water moves across the site, and what the surface will be asked to do once it is in use.

Material selection and design follow from that assessment rather than from a standard specification, because a commercial parking lot, an industrial yard and an access road are carrying different loads at different frequencies.

Recycling existing materials and stabilising weak soils are considered at this stage, since both change the foundation the pavement will sit on and both are far cheaper to plan for than to retrofit. A dedicated project manager carries the work from design through completion.
