Asphalt Recycling

The recycling division: milling, full depth reclamation, soil stabilization and job site drying.

What This Covers

Ruston's recycling division covers four processes that share a principle: treat the material already on site rather than haul it away and import replacement. Milling removes and recycles the top layers. Full depth reclamation rebuilds the pavement using the existing material as the new base. Soil stabilization treats unsuitable subgrade in place. Job site drying removes excess moisture so saturated ground can be compacted.

The commercial case is trucking. Removing material and bringing in aggregate means paying for haulage twice and for the replacement material once, which is usually the largest avoidable cost on a site package.

Which process applies is determined by the condition of the existing pavement and the subgrade beneath it, so the four are often specified together.
